Things to do

The Village Hall Committee runs events normally once a month.  See the calendar on the Forthcoming events page for details.

The Churchill Arms is right in the centre of the village.  It is open all day from Tuesday to Sunday afternoon and serves great food as well as 'proper' beer.   Here are some reviews: Country Life July 2018The Times April 2017Cotswolds Gazette Apr 2017

The following clubs run in Paxford:
  • Book club
  • Paxford Ladies. All ladies very welcome.
  • Walking group
Villagers also take part in a wide range of activities in the neighbouring villages of Chipping Campden, Blockley and Ebrington.

Meetings are normally at 7:30pm in the village hall on the first Tuesday of each month.
The 2019 programme will be planned at the AGM on Tuesday 5th February.

Tuesday 21st May

Mickleton, Hidcote Bartrim and Hidcote Boyce

A moderate + walk with steady hill climb for the first part of the walk.  Views over the Vale of Evesham, before passing Kiftsgate and Hidcote Manor. Then walking through the two Hidcote hamlets before returning through Baker’s Woods.

Double park behind each other in the St Lawrence church car park, as space is limited.  (WP)

 

Tuesday 28th May

Ilmington to Darlingscott 

A moderate + walk – hilly with 4 styles, one of which is a challenging, boring section across ploughed fields, but well rewarded with interesting and pretty topography and views in the second half.  4.8 miles.

Start from the Ilmington Shop/Cafe.  Refreshments available on our return.  (DA)

Brailes Hill

A moderate + walk round Brailes Hill with good views.  About 5 miles.

Meet in the village hall car park – in Castle Hill Lane, signed Winderton, Whatcote, Tysoe.  Coming from Shipston this is the 2nd road on left.  (DA)

Naunton towards Notgrove

A moderate walk with 2 inclines, taking in the hamlet of Aylworth.  About 5 miles.

Meet outside The Black Horse Inn, parking courteously in the village.  (JP)

Bidford on Avon towards Dorsington

An undulating walk through farmland.  About 5 miles.

Meet in the car park north of the river, near the roundabout on the Stratford Evesham road.  (JP)
